He also served as executive sponsor of the successful FoodStorm acquisition.
Oliver is best known as the sole founder and CEO of VigLink (2009-2018), a content monetization platform that enabled web publishers to participate in affiliate commerce revenue. After 95 investor pitches, he secured his first funding from Josh Kopelman at First Round Capital. Under his leadership, VigLink grew to $1B in annual GMV, worked with 75,000 advertisers and 2 million publisher domains, and achieved profitability before being acquired by Sovrn. He raised additional capital from Google Ventures, Emergence Capital, RRE, and angels including Reid Hoffman and Deep Nishar.
Earlier in his career, Oliver was a Director at Microsoft (2003-2007), where he founded and shipped the Xbox Live Video Marketplace and led product for MSN Music and Radio. He authored the original paper on Microsoft Points. Prior to Microsoft, he worked on AI research for Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen at Vulcan, and was Director of Advanced Technology at Echo Networks.
Oliver holds a Master of Engineering and Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from MIT, where he was a student at the Media Lab and director of Nightline, a peer crisis hotline. He earned his MBA from Harvard Business School, where he won the John H. McArthur Canadian Fellowship.
Beyond his operating roles, Oliver is a member of YPO (Young Presidents' Organization), a former elected board member of the Performance Marketing Association, and maintains an executive coaching practice. He was an associate at Founders Fund and served on the SpaceX deal team. He holds several patents in micro-transactions, media, and metadata.
Originally from Toronto, Canada (born in Cape Town, South Africa), Oliver is a former national champion rower, sailing race coach, avid cyclist, registered yoga teacher, and has traveled to over 50 countries.
