Interview discussing how VigLink enables content marketing at scale by automatically incentivizing publishers who write about and link to merchants.
Murray Newlands: Hello, I'm Murray Newlands here at ForumCon 2012 San Francisco, speaking with VigLink CEO Oliver Roup. So, Oliver, if you're a merchant and you're interested in content marketing, why should you work with VigLink?
Oliver Roup: Well, content marketing is really about getting people to write about you and linking back to your site. And I think the two ways you can enhance, you can make that more likely or easier is: you can create content that's easy for people to write about. So, you know, material that's easy to make an article. And two, you can incent them financially. And VigLink really makes the financial incentive automatic. People who write about you will be paid for doing so. And that'll make more of it happen and you'll get more traffic.
Murray Newlands: And that presumably has an unlimited reach?
Oliver Roup: Absolutely. I mean, anyone who picks up that content that you've seeded, writes about you, links back to you, will be incentivized to do so by VigLink. And really, you can get thousands, tens of thousands of sites out there that you wouldn't be able to reach by hand.
Murray Newlands: So, if I'm a big merchant and I want to increase this and if I'm not working with VigLink and I could be, what are some of the sums of revenue you're generating for big advertisers through effectively content marketing right now?
Oliver Roup: Well, I mean, we have six-figure checks that we, in fact, six-figure royalty checks that we get per month and up. So, you know, if 5% royalty is a standard rate, you know, we're talking probably into the seven figures of royalties that we're generating for some of our very largest merchants. So, it's very substantial.
Murray Newlands: And if people want to work with you, how can they get hold of you?
Oliver Roup: Oliver at VigLink.com
Murray Newlands: Oliver, thank you very much. Thank you for a wonderful show.
Oliver Roup: Thanks, Murray.
